Solar Chroma 2017
Kinetic solar powered light installation at the new £50m Pontio Arts and Innovation Centre, Bangor, North Wales.

In moments of sunlight, miniature solar powered mechanisms become activated - rotating a series of suspended dichroic panels to create dynamic projections and reflections of light, colour and movement across the space.

Spanning 40 metres across the south facing window facade, the work changes throughout the day, responding to the position of the sun in the sky to create a sensory walkway.

Made in collaboration with electronic engineers at Bangor University.

A kinetic solar powered light installation at Pontio Arts and Innovation Centre, Bangor. The work is in a constant state of flux -continually responding to weather, time of day and position of the sun at different times of the year. On a cloudy day, suspended colour-changing panels display an array of transparent and reflective hues against the ambient daylight, while in moments of sunlight, the appearance of colourful projections onto the surrounding walls transform the space into a sensory walk way. During the summer months, miniature solar-powered mechanisms become activated - rotating the panels to create dynamic projections and reflections of light, colour and movement across the space.
