Glass tank, water, colour filters, flood light, sound
Projection dimensions: 170 cm x 130 cm
A moving colour projection through a tank of water reveals the hidden vibrations of the water's surface, responding to the movement of people within the space. The work explores the fundamental make up of light itself, composed of colours of varying wavelengths. The viewer has the power to influence and alter the projected vibrations seen as a series of lines in this colour-intense interactive installation. By moving in front of the projection, the person becomes masked and outlined by layered combinations of a 3D colour effect. Such colour surrounds us in our everyday lives, invisible in the white light that enables us to see, and revealed as only glimpses by our reflective environment.
Sound for the installation was created by taking a still image of the projection and feeding it into computer software which converts color into sound.
