A series of artworks made from coal, investigating its associations with geology, chemistry and astronomy. Artworks explore Carbon, the main component of coal, as being one of the most fundamental and abundant elements on earth and in space, present in much of the living and non living world around us. Sculptures emphasise the role of light in the creation of coal: from the moment when light from a distant star enters a green leaf on earth, coal forms as a result of compressed plant remains over millions of years...
