Through the ages, lens based technology has enabled man to discover secrets of the universe hidden from the human eye. Carbon Content is series of works, exploring relationships between geology, physics and the cosmos. These hand-held spheres hold sublime worlds where the manipulation of light and optics create a sense of illusion, energy and life within. Their black carbonised bodies recall the theory of matter being all one in the same, everything and absolute- from the tiny atom to the infinite universe. The 'aperture' has always provided us with a window that allows us in, to discover what lies beyond, in a new space, separate from our own…
